Outdoor surfaces will heat up during the upcoming summer months and can get too hot for your dog to walk on. But it is not only the dark asphalt on streets that get hot; concrete, rock and sand can be blistering hot as well. Be mindful of your dog’s safety and comfort – use the 5 Second Rule:
Before walking your dog, place the back of your hand on the asphalt. If you can’t hold it there for 5 seconds, it’s too hot for your dog to go on a walk.
