O Romeo, Romeo… Wherefore art thou Romeo? Welp, he’s wearing his best tuxedo suit and waiting to meet YOU at Hyla’s Heart to Home Cat Lounge, duh!

Our adoptable handsome Romeo spends his quiet days lounging and snoozing, with the biggest questions being “which level of the cat tower do I feel like napping on?” and “who do I get to love bomb this afternoon?”

Romeo is a mature cat (about 4 years old) with a very gentle and affectionate purrsonality. He would thrive in a home as a solo cat with lots of attention thrown his way OR with other cat-friendly pets and children and a cat tower to climb to the top of. Romeo is truly a jack-of-all-trades!

Great news! I was adopted! I said bye to all my friends at Pedro Pet Pals and set forth with my dad. When I stepped out of my carrier into this new home, I could feel the pulse of something magical in the air—like the walls hummed with a secret energy. My fur stood on end, not from fear, but from excitement! Like the beginning of a new chapter in a grand adventure! The scent of my new human filled the room, comforting and warm, but there was something else too—something mysterious. This place wasn’t just any home, I realized. It was our home now, and I, the sleek guardian of this space, was destined to protect it. My tail flicked with determination as I padded softly through the rooms, feeling the soft carpet beneath my paws, my eyes gleaming with the knowledge of my newfound power. This was it. This was my mission.

I looked up at the window, the light of the moon casting a soft glow on my fur, and in that moment, I understood. I wasn’t just a cat; I was chosen, destined for something greater. The world outside was vast, filled with unknown dangers and magical forces, but here, in this space with my human, I had found my purpose. A gentle purr rumbled in my chest as I turned, my eyes locking with theirs. They didn’t know it yet, but the magic had already begun. Together, we would face whatever came our way. I would be their protector, their companion, and perhaps, one day, we’d unlock the secrets that bound us together. The adventure had just begun, and I couldn’t wait for what came next!

Sweethearts Rosie and Rubix found a home within each other! Now, they are looking for their forever home together.

Rosie:
Where do I begin? I arrived at the facility shortly after giving birth to a litter of adorable, but annoying kittens. Everything was so overstimulating and overwhelming, as I was very young myself and had only ever known a life Outside. Suddenly, I was surrounded by different Humans every day. They gave me yummy food, but I was still skeptical of their intentions… sometimes they tried to pick me up and babble nonsense to me, or poke me with weird pointy things. I cautioned to only stay where they could not reach me, under some furniture in a corner. I had no clue what to make of my new life. That is, until a dashing prince adorned in white fur arrived and turned my already upside-down world back upright again…

Rubix:
Life has been good to me. Get this: I was going to be put to sleep! All because of my darned teeth! That is, until these groovy Humans helped me get the problem-chompers removed. Now, my tongue kinda always sticks out… but who cares! I got a new lease on life, and the most gorgeous, lady I’ve ever laid eyes on!

When I moved in to my new digs, I noticed her right away. Rosie. What a name! She was a little standoffish and quite feisty at first, but she totally let her guard down once she realized I’m just a big ole teddy bear. Suddenly she started curling up right next to me! What luck! I take my new assignment as her loving, doting husband very seriously. (Yes, we were betrothed immediately). I will protect her until the end of time. Anyone looks at my lady funny, they’re dealing with Rubix. (Not that she can’t take care of herself.)

Rosie:
Rubix is everything I never knew I needed. Ever since my charming guy came in to my life, I feel lighter, friendlier. There’s something so comforting about his big, goofy, toothless grin. He’s the best part of my days. I realized the Humans aren’t so bad either; sometimes I let them give me an ear scritch, but only if I’m in the mood! Most days, Rubix and I relax in our various favorite spots: the day bed, the Honeymoon Suite kennel, the office chair. Anywhere that will fit us, we are cozied up. When we’re together, I feel like I can conquer anything. Life just feels more complete with him in it, and honestly, I can’t picture a day without my sweetie Rubix. I will follow him everywhere!

Rubix:
Every moment with Rosie feels like a dream come true! I can’t help but get lost in her heavenly green eyes whenever she looks at me. Her soft fur, her gentle purrs, and the way she nuzzles into me make my heart skip a beat every single time! There’s something about the way she trusts me, the way she curls up beside me, that makes me feel like the luckiest creature in the universe. I know she’s the one for me, and I’d do anything to make her happy. As long as I’ve got my Rosie by my side, I know I’ve got everything I need!

Pedro Pet Pal’s (PPP), a renowned animal welfare organization, is thrilled to announce the grand opening celebration of the Hyla Marrow Center, a state-of-the-art facility dedicated to supporting shelter and homeless pets. The formal dedication ceremony will take place on July 22, 2023, at 5:00 PM at the center’s location: 395 W 7th St, San Pedro, CA 90731.

The completion of the Hyla Marrow Center marks the final phase of a remarkable three-year journey, from concept to reality, made possible despite the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic. This multifaceted facility encompasses a range of vital services, including a comprehensive cat adoption program, dog adoption events, and an affordable, not-for-profit full-service veterinary clinic.

PPP would like to express its gratitude to Petsmart Charities for their generous contribution of $300,000 to the Community Animal Medical Project. Additionally, the City of Los Angeles has played a crucial role in supporting Pedro Pet Pals with a generous donation of $100,000.

Founded in 2009 by Theresa Sardisco, PPP has come a long way since its inception. From humble beginnings with a converted greyhound bus for mobile adoptions, the organization has now established a physical presence in the heart of San Pedro, enabling the adoption of cats and dogs almost every week. To facilitate these adoptions, PPP has launched two dedicated websites: HylasHeart.com for cat/kitten adoptions and PedroPooches.com for dog/puppy adoptions.

The successful purchase and conversion of the Hyla Marrow Center were made possible through the acquisition of $500,000 in seed money from the Hyla Marrow Trust. PPP and its passionate supporters matched this amount with an additional $500,000, enabling the transformation of the building into a vibrant and welcoming facility for animals in need.

The Hyla Marrow Center embodies the spirit of true community collaboration. PPP proudly partners with other animal welfare organizations, city and county animal services, and local businesses to ensure families with limited resources can access proper care for their beloved pets. Furthermore, the center actively seeks to find forever homes for animals in need, promoting the welfare and happiness of both pets and their human companions.
“We are overjoyed to unveil the Hyla Marrow Center and celebrate its grand opening with the San Pedro community,” said Theresa Sardisco, founder of Pedro Pet Pal’s. “This facility represents the culmination of our vision to create a sanctuary for animals and a resource for families in need. We are immensely grateful to all our partners, donors, and supporters who have made this dream a reality.”

The grand opening celebration promises to be a memorable event, featuring a variety of activities, including guided tours of the facility, adoption opportunities, and engaging presentations on responsible pet ownership. Local dignitaries, animal advocates, and members of the community will come together to commemorate this remarkable achievement and mark the beginning of a new chapter in animal welfare.
